The Substitute Teacher

The home is the new paradise during the quarantine so sit back and enjoy it with your family.

The alarm clock went off and startled the living daylights out of me into a world of reality. Sitting on the edge of my bed I stretched toward the ceiling pondering my activity for the day. Slowly the thoughts started to pick up momentum.

Listening to the church bells echoing throughout the neighborhood I suddenly realized it was Sunday. The streets were quiet. Most people were inside enjoying breakfast or still sawing logs in bed.

My mom always insisted on going to church. And where would we sit?

Hoping not to disturb the crowd we weaved our way toward the center of the big room. After getting more comfortable in the pews we got ready to soak up lots of spiritual wisdom.

For any kid my age in church, my mind began to wander. Where will we go for breakfast brunch? Lots of ideas raced through my mind before I felt an arm straighten me up in the hard work chair. Kids were not allowed to wiggle around in church.

Maybe I could beg my three year older cousin to take me to a baseball game. The Chicago Cubs were playing the Cardinals at Wrigley Field. Anything beats staying at home.

But wait just a minute. We were quarantined due to the virus. No body was going anywhere. They call it wishful thinking. For millions of people home was the new paradise. It was the substitute that robbed us for the moment of all the nice things in the world. A chance to build new relationships, make other adjustments, and have fun.

And while we're at it we can thank all the people on the front lines helping to keep us healthy and safe.

p.s. We like to see people happy. Since our blog and newsletter are FREE we are in need of some financial assistance and would appreciate your help. Helpful information goes a long way. Please use the donate button on this page and thank you.

Tribulation Works Patience

Could there be anything worse than no baseball? It's time for the baseball season to start and baseball fans get nothing right now.

Diehard baseball fans have a problem. A big problem. Due to the quarantine virus there is no baseball. Wrigley Field along with all the other baseball parks are empty. Closed. Even kids can't play baseball on corner lots with their friends.

The best solution is to assess the situation and work it out. Unfortunately it's currently beyond our control. So we patiently wait for a cure to the virus. How long will it last? We lack so much information about this deadly disease that the medical people don't even know with certainty how long it will be before we get it under control.

So we patiently wait and dream. It sure will be nice when we can use our baseball glove again or go to a game with friends. And they say, "tribulation works patience.

This is a good time for me to get my tennis ball, glove, and go outside into my backyard and tackle the garage wall. At least there I can be whomever I wanna be—catcher, pitcher, fielder...and more.

What do you do to keep your sanity? I'm sure you have a lot of spare time on your hands just like me.

Does Money Grow on Trees?

Just as a baseball creates all the action during a baseball game, so does money move the economy. Human survival depends upon money. What's in your wallet?

During this quarantine epic (2020) a major concern is having enough food on the table to feed the population. Thank goodness for the farmers. Without them where would we be?

Through the years I have been blessed many times over to care for my family. Raised in a home without a dad and weathering the storms of life, God has always provided for me. Amen!

The importance of needs along with my love for baseball has stirred a passion in me to help other people in need. So thanks to people like you Corner Lots Baseball was born.

Corner Lots Baseball along with our FREE weekly newsletter is about baseball trivia as it relates to real life situations.  Team work, budgets, careers, and more is helpful to our readers. At your request it can be in your home within five seconds through your internet. Amen!

The joy of helping other people in need has grown to a full-time position. Research, writing, customer service, and more is requiring  a small amount of financial assistance. Therefore we are asking for your help. Be so kind and use the donate button in the upper right hand corner. Thank you.

Where is the Baseball?

There is light at the end of the tunnel. It looks like we will see the end of the quarantine soon.

Meanwhile the quarantine is still on. By President Trump's mandate millions of people are required to stay home. The Distance Rule is also still in affect. People must keep a 6 foot distance from other people.

And for the moment there is no more baseball. Baseball parks are closed. Baseball fans are not allowed to watch their favorite team play ball. No more sitting with other fans watching all the play-by-play action while munching on a hot dog with a Coke or Pepsi. I missed opening day with the Chicago Cubs with a lot of other baseball fans.

How long do we have to live like this? The news media says possibly throughout the summer (2020). We don't even have a vaccine yet. That's a long time to live without baseball.

Last night on the news President Trump outlined a three step approach to reopening the market place. Now that is encouraging.

It looks like entertainment gets top priority right now on our lists to keep our sanity. But who knows, lifting the quarantine might be just around the corner, Meanwhile your welcome to join our other friends and take advantage of our FREE weekly newsletter in the upper right hand corner on this page. Meanwhile, have a good day.

Fans of Baseball

Keep your eyes on the ball. Don't worry about what color hair the pitcher has. Time the speed of the ball and hit it when it approaches the plate.

Are you a baseball fan? Isn't munching on a hot dog and drinking soda pop fun?

Do your kids play baseball on a Little League team? Parents argue about whose the best kid on the team, and why is the umpire unfair.

Do you collect baseball cards? Some kids like to trade cards and can't stop talking about their favorite player.

As a kid many years ago I loved to play baseball on a school lot with my friends. In blue jeans, sport shirt, tattered baseball,  splintered bat, and cardboard bases we had fun.

Now we are reliving those days with our FREE newsletter where you can share your baseball trivia and get a prize. Could there be anything better? Access to a world of baseball fun is in the upper right hand corner of this page.
