Who is "Mr. Cub?

What's in your deck? My hand is loaded with good baseball cards. Ernie Banks, Lou Brock, Babe Ruth, and more.

Who is your favorite baseball player? Perhaps you have many and it's hard to single it out to just one. That's OK. My favorite baseball player is Ernie Banks.

One noted fact that Ernie was famous for was hitting home runs. He led the league a couple of times during the regular season. The problem was he often struck-out several times between putting the ball in the seats. Who says tribulation works patience?

But baseball fans loved him. They got excited every time he came to the plate. In time he earned the name "Mr. Cub."

He was an excellent shortstop with a great pair of hands. Quickly he scooped up ground balls and his throw beat runners to first base. Catching popups was a piece of cake. Flip the ball to second to execute a double-play looked easy. Was there anything Ernie couldn't do?

The only thing that was unfortunate in his baseball career is that he never had the chance to play in a World Series, the dream of every baseball player. Ernie was most deserving of the opportunity.

Do you have any pictures of Ernie Banks? I have collected several in my bubble gum wrappers.

We like to see baseball fans happy. Since our blog and newsletter are FREE we are in need of some financial assistance. With your gift we'd like you to have an Ernie Banks poster with our compliments. Just click the donate button. Thank you.
